As of my last update in January 2022, the main airport serving Northern Cyprus is Ercan International Airport (IATA: ECN). Ercan Airport is located about 13 kilometers east of Nicosia (Lefkoşa), the capital city of Northern Cyprus.
Ercan Airport primarily serves flights to and from Turkey and other countries that recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). However, due to political reasons and the lack of international recognition for the TRNC, direct flights to Ercan Airport from most countries outside of Turkey are limited.
Travelers from countries that do not recognize the TRNC typically reach Northern Cyprus by flying into airports in the Republic of Cyprus, such as Larnaca International Airport or Paphos International Airport, and then crossing the border into Northern Cyprus via land or sea.
Ercan International Airport offers basic passenger facilities, including shops, restaurants, car rental services, and currency exchange. It serves as a key transportation hub for travelers visiting Northern Cyprus for tourism, business, and other purposes
